The Motorised Tie Rack

Ok call me stupid ["Stupid"].. but I said today to Annabelle that I needed a tie rack - so she suggested I look on Ebay. So I did. And low and behold there is such a thing as a motorised tie rack. Yes sports fans you heard me right. A motorised tie rack. You put all of your ties in it and then you press a button and it cycles through all of your ties.

I know its completely over the top and stupid. So over the top and stupid that Im going to bid one them until I win one on ebay.

The Poor Mans Zoo

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day, who has a 2+ year old; and he asked if I had taken Romilly to the Pet Store yet. "The Pet Store?" I asked. And he said yeah - its the poor mans zoo. How great is that - its true. I cant believe I havent taken her to the pet store yet - she would get such a buzz out of it. The sad fact is that I would probably come home with a puppy so maybe its not such a good idea.

Annabelle just showed me a video on YouTube of a women breastfeeding a Cat. There are somethings in life that you really dont need to see.

Day Care

We me going back to work we have now put Romilly into day care for a few days a week - which is great for her socially - and she loves people and in particular other babies and kids. So far she appears to be liking it.. although second week into it and she is sick as she has picked something up from one of the other kids - I hear that this is a regular occurance and something to 'look forward to'.

Anyway.. prior to her starting day care - during my last week at home we figured that it may be worthwhile for us to take her in for some orientation time to see how this whole day care thing was going to work out. So we did just that. We spent about an hour or so there and we hid in another room and peeked around the corner to see how she was going. She was going great.. its like she hardly missed it at all. As we were leaving Annabelle said - "well that went well didnt it?" - she looked at me and of course I started to cry.

Yeah Ok I admit it.. Im human, I have emotions, Im a wuss... deal with it.

Sprouts of Wisdom

I keep promising myself that I'm going to make regular posts here - but now that I'm back at work it doesn't seem to be happening like it should. Yep you read that right - I'm back at work. Damn it - where did that six months go? It just sort of went - so simply and so suddenly.

So whats it like being back at work? Just grand - not! Its not that I dislike my work - I quite enjoy it.. Its just that I would much prefer to be a stay at home dad. Unfortunately the ideals of a modern society dont really allow for either parent to stay at home these days and demand that both of them need to work. Its a shame really.

So whats been happening? Two weeks since the last update and Romilly has had her first birthday (cue fanfare!) - just a quiet affair with mum and dad (thats Belle and myself).. the real get together happens in a few weeks when we conduct a combined first birthday with a naming day.

Romilly is soooo close to walking.. she spends more time standing up then she does sitting down or crawling.. and she is cruising around all of the furniture so I dont think walking will be too far away now. Which will be great - but like when she started to crawl will bring its on challenges. She also manages to climb up stairs - which concerns me as our place is built over 4 floors - 5 if you include the sunken lounge room.

She is also at the throwing stage.. she likes to throw her water bottle away over her shoulder when she has finished having a drink and quite happily grabs everything off the coffee table and gives them a 'hoik' also.

No real new works yet - although she can say 'mum' and 'mumma' - but only when it pleases her and she doesnt do it on request. We have started a 'swear jar' here at home, because we are simply swearing way too much and it concerns me that Romilly's able to say Dad and Duck - which is a little too close for my liking.

Romilly also plays peek-a-boo, she hides her face and then lets out an almighty "raaarrr!!" - which is what I do. The other day she got me good and proper.. I was minding my own business on the bed and Romers was laying face down and then she swung her self over and let out a large "Raaarrrr!", and managed to scar the crap out of me - much to Annabelle's delight.

She also has managed to get her two top teeth - so now she has four - including the two down the bottom. She hasnt really had problems teething - they have just really appeared, they havent upset her at all - which is good.

Twelve Months On..

Tomorrow Romilly will be 1 year old. Its quite incredible to think that 12 months ago she wasnt born, and almost two years ago she didnt feature in our lives at all. It just shows you how much life can change (for the better) in such a short space of time.. and indeed it can change alot.

We just spent the last 4 or so days in the Blue Mountains with Annabelle's side of the family. Its times like these that we will look back on and cherish. Special thoughts go out to Mr Determined who hurt his finger.
