Sleep Crawling

Had an interesting night last night - you may recall that I reported that when we were in Melbourne Romilly was "sleep crawling" - well she did it again last night - exactly the same thng.. she rolls onto her tummy, pushes herself up to a sitting position, pivots around and then crawls a few steps and then falls down back to sleep on my legs (remember we co sleep)... its quite odd watching it being done.. she isn’t awake when she does it.. she is asleep.

Also, last night she kept clapping her hands in her sleep! How odd!! Sometimes she managed to clap, other times she tried to clap and would miss.. other times she would just bash her arm on her leg and clap her leg.. again she is doing this whilst she is asleep.

The other thing which I wanted to report - was when we were in Melbourne, I had Romilly with me on the bed, and I was making shadows on the wall with my hand, you like the shape of a Rabbit etc.. Romilly was fascinated.. and then she started to do it herself. It was incredible.. I couldn’t believe it. At first she was watching my hand and then she would look at the shadow on the wall and then back at my hand - so she knew what was going on.. and then she lifted her hand, made a fist and opened and closed it.. and then looked at the shadow that she was making on the wall and kept doing it.. she kept looking at her fist and then the shadow that she was making on the wall and back at her fist.. etc.. she was mighty pleased with herself and I think she even managed to give herself a clap for doing it :)

PS: Romilly said "mum" this morning - Annabelle is over the moon :)

Locked In

Romilly managed to lock me in the shower today - I know as silly as it sounds its true.

This morning we both slept in - Annabelle got up early as she had to go to Melbourne for work. Usually I grab a quick shower in the mornings just before Belle heads off to work. So this morning I figured I would put Romilly down on the bedroom floor where it is quite safe and where she could amuse herself for a few minutes whilst I jumped in the shower.

Low and behold, I looked down out of the shower and there she was sitting in the ensuite looking back up at me - which was fine until I had finished in the shower and found that she had crawled right up to the glass door and was sitting facing it. Of course the shower door opens out ways. So I had no way of getting out! I couldnt really open the door as she was sitting in the way.

Melbourne Town

You know.. I really like Melbourne .. I have been there quite a bit for work but when you are there on business you don’t really get to see much of it.. but this was my third holiday/trip down there where we have been able to have a good look around.. and I really like it.. it reminds me a lot of England and English towns. Nice.

Anyway.. high/low-lites were:

- Leaving a rain soaked Sydney for 3 sunny days in Melbourne - go figure..

- Leaving my mobile phone in the car which was parked in the long term car parking which is about 1km from Sydney airport and then having to bum a ride in a stretch black limo back to the car to get the phone.. this is quite a long story and kinda funny.. so I will save it for another time..

- Borrowing a QANTAS infants lap seat belt for the taxi ride from Melbourne AP to the hotel - these are actually very good for taxi's.. and we promise to return it back to QANTAS...

- Hiring a car and driving out to Ballarat so that Romilly could see her cousin (my niece) who we don’t get to see all that often..

- Annabelle got a deal deal with the hotel, room and meals for $165 a night we eat up big.. I think our dinners ended up being $90 per night, and then $40.00 for breakfasts which meant the room cost us $35 a night!! Was great!

- Watching Romilly get so many compliments as we strolled the streets of Melbourne. As some of you may recall Romilly doesn’t stop chattering all day.. and she sits there waving her hands about like she is conducting as she yabbers away.. anyway.. almost at every set of traffic lights waiting to cross someone would say something to us about how adorable she is... which is nice :) But the funniest thing was walking past a pub with Romers chattering all the way down the street and some guy sitting out on a table drinking a beer outside the pub looks at me as I walk past and says "she's like my missus - never shuts up!" I couldn’t help but laugh

- Another weird thing - has anyone else experienced this - SLEEP CRAWLING! I have witnessed Romilly do this once before when she first started to crawl the other week.. but she did it again whilst we were in Melbourne.. she was asleep on the bed at night between Anbabelle and myself, we were watching TV and Romers rolled over, pushed herself up, turned around, crawled a few steps and then fell down asleep again on Annabelle's legs!! Strange.. she wasn’t awake when she did it.. it was like a Sleep Walk.. but it was a crawl.. a sleep crawl.

- Also Romilly is now going through a phase where she is shaking her head from side to side as in "No" and she is also going through the shaking the top of body back and forward when sitting in the high chair trying to feed her.. grrr!! She is also poking her tongue out now.. and best of all she has entered her hugging phase and enjoys giving us hugs now :)

Who said that the 80's were dead? If you lived them then maybe they never die. Its interesting, having lived the 80's and still getting excited by 80's sounding music, I remember back to when I was a teenager and how I used to react to my dad's music. His music was 20-30 years old back then. Well I guess I have become my dad.

Nonetheless, check out Northern Kind - current band with great 80's sounds! Superb!

Crawling and Clapping Hands

On Thursday - 08/08/07 - Romilly started crawling. It was kinda cool as she did her first one in front of both of her grand dads - so that was nice. Whilst Annabelle reports that she witnessed Romilly crawl a few steps a while back.. it seems that the crawl on Thursday was the one that has cemented it - as the last few days she has been crawling everywhere.

And then yesterday she started clapping hands all by herself. Again for a while we have been saying clap hands and she has clapped her hand against your hand, but she never mastered the art of clapping both of her hands - until yesterday. And she has been doing it all day - even upon request.

Its so nice watching your child do things for the first time - and with Romilly becoming more 'interactive' it just shows you what a joy life really is.

Come together once in a while
So blinding and decidedly
Naivety falls from our eyes
And we'll not regain

The other day Romilly starting blowing Raspberries.. which is kinda cool. She started doing this herself and now when you do it she will blow one back. A week or so ago she also started to make clicking sounds with her tongue and mouth - she also did this of her own accord and will also do it back to you when you do it. These basic forms of communications are kinda neat :)

A while back I did a video slide show of photographs of Romilly's first 10 weeks. Whilst its been a long time coming - I have finally completed the sequel - no not Romilly 2 - this time its a slide show of photographs from 3 to 9 months of age. Hence the title "329 Months".
