Sick Sick Sick

It really is no fun when you are sick. And its made a thousand times worse when you have a bub that is also sick. One part of me just wants to sleep all day, but then the other part of me wishes that if I could take all of Romilly's 'sick' away from her and extend my sickness for a few weeks or however long then I would.

This IS the worst flu that I have had for years.. :(

Art for Art Sake

For a number of years I have been involved in testing war games and running the website for SSG (Strategic Studies Group). As part of this I have also been heavily involved in scenario design and map creation of some of their best custom/user scenarios. I thought I would show case some of the maps which I have painted. All of these have been painted and rendered by myself in Photoshop.

Irks Me

How interesting is it that as your life and its circumstances change so too does your view on certain things. I have never taken advantage of disabled parking or parents/pram parking spots, never really parked in - always generally left them available for those who really needed them.

But I have to tell you that it really irks me now when I see others park in them who are either not disabled, or in my case, clearly are not parents with prams parking in a parents with pram parking spot. So much so, that the other day I was extremely tempted - like really tempted - to use my keys to scratch all of the cars that were in a pram parking that didnt have a baby chair in their car.

Being the well mannered and natured young man that I am, I kept the keys in my pocket.

Nan Dad Duck

The first 'word' that Romilly made/said was "Nan". I understand that that is very comment. She then managed the obligatory "Dad" which she has been splitting out for a while - sometimes you wonder if they are sounds or words, although the other day I did sit her on my knee and with her full attention said to her "Dad". She looked at me, concentrating and said it back to me - "dad". Of course it made my heart just melt.

Tonight whilst in the bath, Romilly has several bath toys which are farm yard animals, one of which is a Duck. Infact the 'duck' was the only animal that was actually in the bath - the others werent in having a swim, they were sitting on the side of the bath. So the duck was the lone animal floating around. Without warning, Romilly said "duck". It was an obvious 'duck' sound. I grabbed the floating duck - which she was focused on, and held it in front of her and said "duck!". She repeated "Duck!" And she kept saying it. I thought to myself.. this cant be,. I must be hearing things, so I called Annabelle in.

I again, said "duck!" and Romilly repeated it.. Annabelle was smitten.

So there you have it.. "duck" is the first word that wasnt prompted I guess. And there is no reason why she wouldnt have been able to say 'duck' - we tell her what each of the 'bath time' animals are, and a duck features in both of the books which Annabelle (and I) have been reading to her for the last 5 or so months.

The Tsubi Stick Up

Whilst Tsubi Jeans may be the envy of every fashion victim come slave, I have to tell you the whole of idea of them putting stickers on their jeans is extremely annoying. How hard is it getting them off? And what purpose does it serve - none but to irritate and annoy..

The 'Microsoft' Coffee Table

The future is here.

Popular Mechanics (www.popularmechanics.com) recently ran a story and video on the new coffee table PC from microsoft. I sat and watched the video and was in awe.. what can I say except that this is the future - yet it is upon us.. supposedly you can purchase these already for between $5k and $10k (USA I guess). But really thats not that expensive when you consider what the cost of high TV's are these days. Trust me - when you watch this video you will want one. Well I do anyway.

The future is now.

Romilly's World Updated

I have updated Romilly's World with a heap of photographs which is long overdue. Also realised that the link was properly working.. please be patient as the page loads as it has to grab quite a few thumbnails from the server - something like 200+ pictures are now online.

Subscriptions Away

I have now added a subscribe option to the right hand panel (just over -------> there somewhere!!). All you need to do is enter your email address in the box and then click on the 'subscribe me' button. All going well, you will then receive a verification email sent to your designated email - click on the link in the email and then you are subscribed. That way - each time I add a new entry you will get a personal email telling you all about it - so you will know when the website has been updated :)

How cool is that - I mean what else could you possibly want from life?

Coming of Age

Its good to see that the good old Swiss Army Knife is coming of age. Recently releasing their USB Memory Stick edition. Thats right - take your standard Swiss Army Knife with all of the tools that you would expect to find, but also include a USB Memory Stick - sounds pretty obvious to me.

Now if only that can that that Swiss Army Tank right!

The Crawl - technically speaking

Last night Romilly 'crawled' for the first time - well technically speaking she did. She has never really enjoyed her time on her tummy - although she is getting better with it now and now complaining as much as I have introduced a routine of laying her on her stomach on my chest when she wakes up. And she does try and crawl whilst in that position but without much success. She much prefers to be sitting upright looking at the world.

And last night she did a little bum shuffle forward to reach some of her toys. So technically thats her first crawl :)

General Update #2385

Earlier this week Belle had to go down to Melbourne for a conference - so we made the most of it and we all traveled down as a family :) It was Romilly's first trip on and plane and trip interstate. She had a ball - wasnt too bad on the flight and pretty much slept most of the way down and then again on the trip back up.

Melbourne was great - whilst I had been there before, I didnt realise just how different it is to Sydney. Its much more European. I like it. Pictures to come of course.

Romilly now prefers to sleep on her side and tends to sleep quite soundly that way - although she has taken up the habit of wanting to co-sleep with either mum or dad or both. Whilst at the moment its seems to suite us all - ie: we all get a good nights sleep - I fear its going to be a hard habit to break!
