K5000s

Talking all things musical, I should have some pictures from the Kraftwerk show up soon, thanks to my mate Anthony who managed to get some shots (over 100) from the show he went to.. Well done!

I have also managed to get myself (well fingers crossed) a Kawai K5000s Synth from Ebay. I have read that Kraftwerk has used these machines previously, which makes me very happy. It will help the music I am making with Interactive Particle Theory. All going well, I should have the said keyboard sometime Friday.. :) Woo hoo!

The Scribble Shirt

Annabelle bought me a new shirt.. I like it because of the chaos of it.. it also reminds me of a Duran Duran album cover for Medazzaland. This is my medazzaland shirt :)

Today's Observations

- At Sydenham train station they had a guy announcing over the PA that there was a free Sausage Sizzle this morning. Thats ok, except the guy they got to do the announcing had the biggest lisp. Poor sod. "Today there is a free Thothage Thithle."

- The girl who served me at MacDonalds had her middle button undone on her blouse (lucky - for me she was the manager so she was older then 13 and therefore I didnt feel so bad having noticed such. unlucky - for her that she was the manager and older then 13 and that she actually had something to show which would have caused her embarrassment. Eitherway, I didnt look (too long) nor did I have the guts to tell her she was "undone". Well I would have but I didnt want to embarrass her - or spoil it for the next guy :) ok joking.. I was too embarrassed to tell her. It would have been safer for one of her female co-workers to tell her. Anyway, you really couldnt see anything.. would you have told her if you had been me?

- Working for a different department/firm that is from the "old school" has had an impact already. Managers are expected to "wear ties" if you want to progress. I dont have a problem with that actually, I dont mind dressing up for work and probably would do it every day if I wasnt so lazy. Its just interesting having come from another department which is a lot more "modern" in more ways then one. The wearing of 'ties' sums it up nicely actually.

- Getting a buzz when I purchased a new pair of shoes marked down from $149.95 to $89.95 to find that they had further been marked down to $67.00. Woo hoo! In theory I have saved myself $80 odd dollars and therefore I have $80.00 free to spend? What, it doesnt work like that?

Back to Work

After 6 or so weeks of holidays, today was the first day back at work. It also marked the start of a new old job. You see, I am back working with an old employer, my first 'real' employer from 13 years ago. I left that employer to take up a position where I had spent the last 13 years.

I have gone from being somewhat or an expert in my field (knowledge wise), to being the new kid on the block - where I dont know anything (knowledge wise). Its quite strange.. having not really be in this situation before. Im sure I have alot of other skills to offer in the short term until my knowledge in the 'field' picks up.

Overall, no Im not happy to be back at work.. it means I miss out on watching Jamie Oliver during the day.

.. 9.00am 28.4oC ..

Of course it is.. its damn hot! At 9.00am on this Saturday Morning it was already 28.4oC. Today is going to be a bastard. There is no doubt about it.

Outside my front door is a pool. A pool which often doesnt get used by myself I must admit. I think that will change today.

Just before Mark and Maggie arrived from the UK we were having one of he hottest and driest periods ever experienced. Then they arrived. There has to be some truth to the old saying that visiters bring their weather with them.. because our Xmas was a cool/cold and wet as I can remember.

On cue, as soon as they left it hotted up again.. and as I said, today at 9.00am it was almost 30oC. It would easily be over 30oC now at 10.45am, and I cant imagine what it will be when it hits its peak between 2 and 3pm this afternoon.

[wonders how the weather is in Leeds, UK]..

Update 3.06pm. The outside temp gauge on my car tells me that it was 42.5oC at 2.50pm. Thats hot!

Teena's Holiday Snaps

Teena, whose holiday exploits may have previously been followed by some of you here at the shallow.end; has asked me to host some of her snaps - that she took.

So here they are.. find the link on the menu to the left. Note that the page is quite big and it may take a few minutes to load fully.

By Crikey!

One of the best things I have seen in a while is the Steve Irwin "Crocodile Hunter" talking doll.

My brother and his wife got one to take back to their local pub in the UK. Whilst most australians cringe at Mr Irwin and his antics, he does seem to be quite huge overseas.. so huge infact that he there is a talking doll.

Annabelle's brothers girlfriend, or to make that sound even more complex, my girlfriends, brothers, girlfriend - originally spied it in a toystore on the otherside of Sydney. When I mentioned it to my brother he said he needed one big time. So the search was on.

We couldnt find one until we did a search via google which produced the desired results.

I must admit that it is quite funny.. the resemblance to the real croc hunter is quite good.. all the way to do his chubby-ness and his boots!

Press his gut and he spits out a few lines "Crikey take a look at that!", "Whoo thats a big one!", "Danger! Danger! Danger", "Woo-hoo!".

It's Been a While

Christmas has come and gone, its a new year and its all happened free of blogs. With my brother out from the UK and still being on dialup, I just havent found the time to comment about much at all - although the inspiration has been there the inclination hasnt.

But come Monday, I will be back on Broadband..

My web host has been making some changes to their severs also, so things may be a little hectic for the next few days/weeks/months/years..
