Did I Just See a Bunny?

Ok, its 11.25pm.. I have had 1 beer tonight. I just got home from Kev's and as I was getting out of my car and walking up to the entrance to the block of units I live in.. I saw a Rabbit. We are not talking a little rabbit here.. we are talking the biggest rabbit I have seen in my life. This thing would have fed several central africa villages for a year! It was plump. I think its strange enough me seeing a rabbit out the front of my place considering I live is suburbia - but to see one big enough to go ten rounds with Mike Tyson is another thing altogether..

I wonder what will await me tomorrow night - the tooth fairy?

Anyway, after being at Kev's we managed to put just about the finishing touches to Tullsino's Orb. We are well into the final arrangement and mix. It was a very productive night tonight and I am very pleased with the way Interactive Particle Theory is progressing.

My Milk Is Super

My milk is the best. I only buy the best milk. This is a fact. I know this to be so because each Monday morning I buy 600ml of milk on the way to work to use in my coffee. I put it in the fridge and there it lives until coffee time each day. My milk is the best.

If it wasnt the best milk in the fridge then why else would other people help themselves to it? It must be the best milk.. I am flattered that people worship my milk.. obviously I know good milk when I see it.. hence my milk being the best. If only other people @ work asked me where I bought my milk - they too could have the best milk without having to borrow/steal mine. Dont get me wrong, I dont mind sharing my milk.. but its not really sharing if one doesnt ask is it? If anyone has any proven strategies to address this milk borrowing issue - then please let me know. Although I do like my milk and I dont want it substituted with water - so no advice suggesting I should lace the said white fluid with other chemical substances.

Today was daffodil day.. when I got off the train coming to work today, on each side of the exit to the train station there were hordes of people buying daffodil/badges/toys/flowers/pins/belts/hats/watches/younameit.. the queues were endless.

It was good to see so many people supporting it.. but I was a little amused to see between the two queues of people a little old lady with a Salvation Army collection box. Really she stood no chance did she. Other charities should see these "theme charity days" as their day off. She really shouldnt have got out of bed today. So was I the nice guy.. did I approach her and throw a gold coin in her box? Dont be silly.. Im only full of good intentions..

In what is turning into a big blog today.. the last thing I want to mention is just a comment on coincidence. On my way to work this morning I passed a young asian girl walking in the opposite direction on her way to school. This normally is not something which I would comment on, nor remember. But guess what. Coming home I passed the same girl walking in the opposite direction - on her way home. That! Makes it worthy to both remember and to blog about.

Welcome To The Shallow.End

My mother used to say - dont pick at a sore.. it will never get better. Those were wise words of my mother.

Sometimes life is like an iceberg.. what you show and what people see is only the 5% above the water. The rest, the 95% - that's hidden below the surface. Isnt it interesting that its the 5% that gets portrayed and displayed to people.. its that 5% which the majority of people judge you on.. my friends.. that 5% that people see is the shallow.end.

If you really want to get to know someone you have to go beyond the shallow.end - you have to look at the other 95% - often the difficulty is that sometimes you dont even know yourself how big that iceberg is.. how much water is it actually displacing?

My mother used to say - dont pick at a sore.. it will never get better. Mum was only half right - it never gets better.. it just helps form the 95% which is hidden below the surface.

On a lighter note.. I just got an email: ayg18 YR OLD VIRGINS! !!! from[itnrhothotxx@doityourself.com]. How could I be that lucky - so lucky that an 18 yr old virgin - now thats a contradiction in terms! is waiting for me.. heck.. what I am doing writing this blog.. I have an email to reply to.. I love unsolicted email.

Blog Me Baby Mk3

This really is becoming blog for blog sake at the moment.. whilst I am converting to MT, I really dont want to add a heap here.. I promised myself I would finish the conversion tonight.. I know that I wont. Why do we make promises we cant/dont keep - even if they are only to yourselves.

Its my flatmates birthday today - happy birthday Neil - send him an email [he hates his birthday] - so it only seems fair..

Today I tempted fate with the drink machine again.. I won! The irony is that it shouldnt feel like winning.. it still cost me $1.20. The score stands at:

Me: 4
Drink Machine: 2

I unoffically became know as "Lemon Boy". I dont know if thats a good thing.. but why fight it.

The book I am reading.. up to page 32 woo woo! Inspires some interesting thoughts.. I forgot to send the email I wrote about it home.. and Im a lazy bones and cant be bothered typing it out again.. so lets look forward to this one tomorrow..

Kev tells me the there are no straight lines in nature. I have no option but to agree with him.

Blog Me Baby Mk2

This is what you call Blog for Blog sake. Not much to report really.. had an exceptionally great weekend.. :)

My mum's birthday today - Happy birthday mum.. she doesn't have a modem, the only surfing she does in the washing powder kind. But dont let that stop me wishing her a great day :)

I am pretty much well into the conversion of a r e n a (which will now be called shallow.end) to moveable type - on a new host. I just need to convert all of the old blogs over and I am there. Not much will change.. the colour scheme will stay the same.. although I did toy with the idea of going all "olive" (and calling the new site "olive" or "olive grove" or similar).. but have agreed on shallow.end.

I like the irony of shallow.end.

Saw Mr Deeds - dont do it.. you have been warned.. wanted to see Birthday Girl - actually even tried to see it.. but it didnt happen for some reason..

Footloose Why?

Just heard on the news that "Footloose" as in the 80's movie is about to become a musical here in Sydney. Why?

So I am in the process of moving over to Moveable Type - I have installed it and set it up - on another host.. goodbye Telstra- but am yet to do the templates.

Here are some more options for a name..

Shallow End
Slight Impression
Slight Imperfections
Mutterings
Egonomical
Innocence
Contradiction
Abstract Voodoo
Idealogical Cuddle
Idealogical Puddle

Not bad for a days thinking :)

What's In A Name?

Im not convinced I like the name of this site.. a r e n a - maybe it should be called something else? What are my options? It comes down to words really.. I always like the combination of obscure words - like Prefrab Sprout, and darklemon..

After-though
Tasty-Fish
FishBone
Olive
Blue-Skies
NoBlueSkies
What do you think?!

Walk To The Beat

When I am walking and listening to music - I find that my pace is generally in time with the beat of the drum.. 1 step (boom), 2 step (crash).. Lucky the music I listen to isnt faster then 130BPM :)

Today I went in search of tHE Devils CD. I went to Red Eye Records and asked if they had it.. I know they have had it on order for a while and have had a few copies in.. but I havent been lucky enough to be there to snap one up (I know I should order one..) Anyway, so I ask the guy if he had the CD by Dark Circles. Poor guy, he spent ages trying to find it.. he eventually came back and said.. whats name of the group again.. and I said "Dark Circles". Oh oh.. no its not its tHE Devils. Poor guy spent all of that time looking for the wrong thing.. so I high tailed it out of there quick smart.

Why is also that when you are in a rush all sorts of things happen to slow you down? This morning, I was running late.. and with the threat of my flat mate leaving for work without me - meaning I would have to train it in and be even later.. I rushed to get ready in time. But again.. fate smiled down at me and said "time for fun".

First my singlet was inside out.. then I couldnt get my shoes on properly.. and you know what happens if they dont go on in that order.

Speaking of shoes, what is one to do when your shoe starts to come off when you are almost home.. like a few hundred metres. It seems pointless to stop and do your shoe up when in only a matter of minutes you are going to be home and kick them off anyway. What a wast of energy. Another trick of fate? Not for me.. I battled on and dragged that damn shoe all the way home.. no sir.. fate isnt winning this one..

I spose I should give an Interactive Particle Theory update also.. since its been a few days since posting..

Full of good intentions to finish off "Tullsino's Orb" - we instead, ate pizza whilst reciting our own version of "Bohemian Rhapsody" based upon ones love for cars (something which neither fits into the lives of Interactive Particle Theory or us!). So whilst we did little work on Tullsino.. we did start a new tune.. "Song X". So far its a nice lttle riff - but isnt that how Bohemian Rhapsody started out?

I pitty the ticket inspectors at the train station tonight.. last I saw was they pulled up the
b i g g e s t guy I ever seen for not having a ticket. By all accounts the big dude didnt want to have anything to do with it.. if me was the ticket inspector I would have agreed with his thoughts and let him go.. I will watch the news tonight and look for the pool of blood tomorrow :) Really, when you are that big, buying a ticket must surely be optional.

Can A Bonsai Be Confused?

Today when I woke up.. I went outside to check on my bonsai's and low and behold.. two of them are flowering.. I didnt expect it so it was a nice surprise.. which reminds me that I have to get started on my bonsai page :)

Today it is meant to be the middle of winter.. August is the coldest month in Sydney, Australia.

Today I had to turn the aircon on in the car - it was 24oC outside and hotter in the car. I think we are going through one of our worst droughts on record actually, 80% of the state. They also say that we are not going to get any substantial rain until April next year.. good grief.. I wonder if my bonsai's have been lulled into a false sense of security because of the hotter then normal weather, they think its spring already.. oh oh..

Today I found the chain for the fish charm :)

Speaking of being confused.. go on - I dare you..

How Are You?

How difficult can it be to purchase a chain. I have a fish "charm" that I need a chain for.. so today at lunch time off I went to find my chain. I went to several jewellers and of course I am still without the chain. How hard could it be? There are so many chains.. too many.. there shouldnt be so many chains.. its simple, I want it silver and I want it close to my neck.. gimme! If there was just one.. no problem.. looks like I have to have that one.. it will do.. but no.. there are hundreds to choose from.. and that is where the problem is.. the more choice you have - the hard the choice.. remove the rights of choice and life would be easier I say.

The last few days I have been having a hit and miss affair with a drink machine at work. Sometimes everything works out right.. I put my money in.. I get my drink. But on some occasions the drink machine doesnt understand the rules. This makes me mad. I put my money in, and the drink machine.. well it doesnt do anything.. not even says thank you. I think if a machine is going to swallow your money, the least it could do is flash a display that says "thank you for your donation". Today I got my drink.

Drink score:
Me:
Drink Machine: 2

Whilst in the lift coming back from my success at the drink machine (the sad thing is that I didnt really win.. I still paid for the drink..) - two people in the lift said "Hello - how are you?" to each other. Each person then proceeded to not answer the question - but talk about other things.. and it made me wonder.. no one really asks that question "how are you?" expecting to be told how the person is.. nor does anyone expect to tell the person asking how they are..

So I thought to myself.. standing in that lift.. the next time someone asks me that.. Im going to answer them.. not just with a throw away "good thanks.. " but a proper answer.. I will tell them how I am feeling..

I got out of the lift, and then within 3 seconds.. it happened.. some poor unsuspecting person passed me in the corridor and asked me.. "Hey Rob.. how are you?" they didnt stop, they kept walking.. and what did I do.. I kept walking also..

Sometimes you just cant help the way it is..

144-5-2 Doesn't Equal 122

I purchased a book call Number 9 Dream - this is interesting because I dont read that much. Its not that I dont like reading, but I mostly get distracted and move on to other things. I wish I did read more.. I predict this book will either take me 3 months to finish.. or will end up in the heap of other books which I have to read and not started or finished. Why do I buy a new book when I have so many others to read.

So far it has raised an interesting question though.. (the book that is..) What do babies, when in the womb - dream about? And if they do dream.. is that dream their reality?

I think I cheated in the national IQ test. Well Im sure I did :) Not intentionally, a friend at work told my 2 answers - well they gave me hints, but the hints were in the format of .. here is the answer.. but the real (unintentional) cheating took place when I used a piece of scrap paper to help me with my maths (is it math or maths?).

I dont think that is allowed - well my flatmate assures me that that isnt allowed. I disagree.. you see - I think it shows I have a superior IQ because I used a resource which was available to me :) Either way, I ended up with a very inflated score - which is a joke really.. there is no way that that was my IQ. But I have worked backwards from there.. I have taken off the 2 answers that the work mate gave me, and I have taken off the 5 (to be safe) answers I may have cheated on. That gives me a more realistic IQ I think. Which still surprises me.. but one Im happy with.. I still think luck was on my side though.. I guessed alot..

Today was probably one of the fastest days in my life.. I dont know why.. but I remember being in a meeting at work and thinking.. I wish this meeting would end.. thinking it was 11am.. it was infact 4.10pm.

Also got an email from Mark today - he informs me he is going to South Africa for the week.. hard life.. although I do take joy.. he lives in England.. and I love it when in his summer it is 20oC and 22oC today here in our winter.. no wonder you need to leave the country buddy..

To Me. To Day.

Can the first events - I mean the first 30 minutes of the day set its course for the rest to follow?
6.30am Buzz.. No! too tired let me sleep - but its a nice day, the sun is shining the birds are singing.. well then tell them to go back to bed its only 6.30am.. Dont you think 6.30amis even too early for the sun to be up? I know if I was the sun I wouldnt bother getting up until at least 8.30am..

Ok I finally do rise, 6.45am- yes you should be proud.. point to the story is that I left the household without my organiser.. no I dont need it function.. but I do like to have it so that I can listen to MP3's on the train trip to work. So I went back to get it.. of course this one event would probably impact upon the rest of the day.. unlike me, fate doesnt need an excuse to get out of bed and exploit an opportunity.. and so it was..

Its now 7.48am.. go away sun.. go away birds.. I get my organiser, but arrive late at the train station to watch my train depart without me on it..

8.03am: at what can best be described as - things take a turn for the worst - the next train finally arrives. I always get a seat on my train.. but fate is having the last laugh today - at my expense.. I have to stand all the way for the 40 minute trip. Thats ok.. I can deal with this.. but do we have to stop at every station?

The more stops, the more people get on.. by the time we arrive at Lidcombe, it is now as if someone has dropped a bottle of people and they have all escaped into my carriage. Riding this train redefines what is meant by personal space. It is crowded.. but I can deal with this..

No I cant.. there is a man right up against me, to make matters worse he is facing me. What gives? Why does someone do that? I bet this is the sort of guy who gets into elevators and faces everyone. This guy smells! Seriously, it is like rotting meat.. close your mouth buddy..

Just when you think it cant get any worse.. it does.. he sneezes.. on me.. yep.. not once but twice. God. You may think that I have made these events up to make this blog interesting.. you would be wrong.. this happened. To me. Today.

My day so far.. its 8.15am.. only 16 hours of the day left.

Luckily, my day didnt get much worse.. overall it was still a crappy day though.. one entertaining thing though - which did make me laugh - was the following email that a friend at work sent me.. brilliant.

Morality Vs Mortality

Saw two movies over this weekend, the first being "Dragonfly"which stars Kevin Costner - Im not really a fan - who plays a Doctor. His wife dies at the start of the movie (giving nothing away dont worry), and his patients who have flat lined and come back, bring him messages from his dead wife. Im not going to rave about this movie, at best its average, although it did hold my attention.

The other one was "Unfaithful"; starring Richard Gere - again not really a fan but I prefer him over Costner. The name really tells you what this movie is about, so enough said. Im not going to rave about this one either, although I did like it.. its one of those "video movies". It did raise some interesting themes
though.. the two which stuck in my mind were..

If your loved one committed a murder, would you protected and stand by them? And the other one is something I have always said.. dont tempt fate..
you really shouldnt put yourself in a position where you may be "tempted" to do something you normally wouldnt do. Its easier to walk away.. or "get in the taxi"

4:26pm Speaking of taxi's - what a lead in :) Every heard of popcorn taxi? Neither had I until today. Wanna sneak peak at the new Matrix films and take part in a Q&A with some of the people working on the new films currently being filmed here in Sydney. Check it out!

Solicit(?) Me Baby

Why does my email box fill up with unsolicited email? Yes, I am happy with the size of my manhood - No, I do not need, want, desire an extension thank you. No, I do not want to date a Russian woman. No, I do not want to visit a webcam full of naked women.. ermm.. ok let me think about that last one.. :) But seriously, once you start to get this crap.. and I know I am not the only one.. we all get it.. although I must say.. I went a long time by being very careful, before I actually started to get any sent to my "proper" email account. One slip up and you are gone!

How do I get rid of it?

I just realised how erky it is typing on one of those ergonomic keyboards, you know the one that is split in half. Rob says - nothing damn ergo about this I can tell you.

4:17pm Ever cried so much it makes you sick?

Extention Of A Good Idea

And I thought it was bad enough our stair well turning into a shoe closet.. well another apartment.. the one across from us, have a habit of leaving their door open.. whats that all about? Is that an Extension of the shoe closet idea? Do they want to try and out do the people on the floor below them.. shoe closet isnt good enough?

At least the shoe people left their door closed. These guys have their front door open.. effectively making the stair well an extra room now.. so we get their noise and their cooking smells.. I complain alot dont I?

Tania came over tonight, I was going to cook her beef stroganoff - but I was too lazy.. Pizza instead..
